What's happening at your internship? We would love to hear what kind of work you are doing!
In my internship, I am working for the web and creative team for TPIN. I have been writing for their campaigns and following their work to further my understanding of the organization's values, groups, and methods of action to achieve goals. I have written news briefs, organization-wide emails, and articles during my internship. We have weekly skills trainings in which guest speakers from the organization teach us how to accomplish certain goals with our writing.

Why did you apply for this internship?
I applied for this internship because I really liked the organization's values and mission statement. I was also drawn to the type of work I would do because writing for a cause is very different from academic writing, and I wanted to experience that difference.

What has been your favorite part of this internship?
My favorite part of the internship has been following the many groups under TPIN because I have been able to witness the change and impact they have had nationwide over the years, which has been very inspiring. I have also enjoyed learning about their different campaigns because I am learning about issues I was previously unaware of and what I can do to make better choices for myself and the environment.

Was this internship what you expected it to be?
This internship was not what I expected it to be because I was not expecting to be so involved with the other sectors of the organization, which is a good thing. Originally, I expected to have assignments that exclusively involved writing and working on creative projects, but I am expected to do much more and participate in other projects. I was unsure what writing for an advocacy cause would be like, so I had no expectations. However, I have been enjoying the work and having the opportunity to learn from leaders in organizations that do important work.
