91传媒 Students Shine at Asian Studies Conference

Two 91传媒 students won awards for the best paper/presentation at the 2019 Greater Philadelphia Asian Studies Conference (GPASC), held at Villanova University in April 2019. 

Koko Zhang '19 (Gender and Sexuality Studies, Mathematics) won an award for "Contemplating Onee: A Look into Male Gender Non-Conforming Practice in Japan," a paper supported by mentors Professor of Spanish Rosi Song, Bryn Mawr College, and Lecturer in Japanese , Haverford College. 

Jialu Guo '19 (History of Art, Classical and Near Eastern Archaeology) won for "The Afterlife of Yue in Hill Censers: Cultural Interactions and Identities within the Han Empire," mentored by Professor , University of Pennsylvania.

Yifan Feng HC '21 (History) also won for 鈥淭he Financial Undead: Why Japan and South Korea Had Disparate Proliferations of 'Zombie Firms' in the Wake of Financial Crises," mentored by Assistant Professor of Political Science Seung-Youn Oh at Bryn Mawr College. 

Other 91传媒 students presenting included Jiaxi Li '19 (Growth and Structure of Cities), Ruoli Yang '19 (Growth and Structure of Cities), and Chayanit Jenny Yung '20 (English, East Asian Languages and Cultures). Haverford student presenters also included Rebecca Chang '19 (Growth and Structure of Cities, BMC). 91传媒 student Jordan Hussey '20 (East Asian Languages and Cultures) participated in the KAKEHASHI Project to promote international and intercultural understanding; the Project was featured at the conference.

Next year's GPASC, the 15th annual meeting of the conference, will be held at 91传媒 College.
